It was a gorgeous day, 60 F, a bonus for Minnesotans in the 1st week of November. Dhanno and Sally wanted to enjoy this rare opportunity. Being a weekday at noon, the bikes were on the trails going for a ride. Sally seemed to be very enthusiastic, carrying a “red” water bottle, and waved Dhanno at the gas station. The meeting point at the junction of Woodbury and valley creek drive to start the ride together.
Sally and Dhanno started chatting, “It is such an important day for our nation, while the world is keeping close eye on the election news, and for us fun is more important”. Sally said. “Well it is important. It will shape the future of America, making it a great nation again, not just for us, but the whole world” Dhanno replied. Though the system and electoral counting process will take its own time. Unfortunately the corona effect has a say, all the postal ballots have to be counted. Final outcome to announce the winner, whether it is blue or red will take time.
Sally and Dhanno wanted to use the wait period and enjoy the weather and have a race.“Sally, are you republican” Dhanno asked, “Yes I am, but I wonder how do you know?” Sally replied. “It is your red water bottle,”Dhanno whispered. “We have been friends for many months, at times we forgot social distancing, and came so close, on trails. Though I never realized our political ideology is different”. Dhanno is an immigrant who made this city (Woodbury) a home several years ago, and always supported democrat ideology. As she was welcomed and embraced by fellow citizens, she wanted to embrace others with open arms and a smiling face.
Dhanno and Sally learnt about their political ideology differences for the first time, though it didn’t bother them. They both unanimously agreed, whoever wins the election, should respect the country’s democratic process, and welcome the political opponent. Both must embrace each other, and move on, to deliver upon their political commitment. Build this nation and make it great again.
Dhanno and Sally raced and shared political ideas. Racing through the city trails they reached, Colby Lake. Sally asked “Dhanno remember this place, beautiful lake where we first met. We took several rounds , for months to make our friendship stronger”, this may be the last bonus round for Sally and Dhanno. They recorded some of the sceneries on the iPhone. Dhanno wanted to go to the fishing spot located in the corner of the lake, it was beautiful. Now it was time to go back, being a working day. The riders had meetings, and had to report on time, they parted ways.
Dhanno was alone, thinking about some of the news and statements by the president. “I won”, and slogans from supporters “stop counting”. Is it fair? while the world is watching us, should we not respect our own system, have trust and a sportsman spirit to win or lose election. Let’s wait and watch no matter who wins, show the world, America is great and will remain great by adopting great values…

Well said khalique, being a president he should trust the system which he lived and build but unfortunate to have such leader.
Funny content with deep message of mutual respect, agree to disagree and to be friend even if political ideology is different..
Thank you for sharing – I totally agree….we will demonstrate the democratic principles of this nation with this election
Well written! There should be more bike rides with friends to view the City and enjoy. The sportsman spirit should always be there. In school, we are taught to be good losers and WHENEVER our team lost we would always congratulate the winning team. When will this sportsman SPIRIT RETURN among the rulers?
Rightly said Khalique Bhai , hope is life, let us be positive
very true there is always a hope in being hopeful
